Zhen Lei, a professor at the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Hong Kong Institute of Science & Innovation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, doctoral supervisor, a researcher at the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, post professor at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, visiting professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, IEEE/IAPR Fellow, 2020-2022 Highly Cited Researcher in China, and included in the top 2% of global top scientists list. His main research areas include biometric recognition, image and video analysis and understanding, and artificial intelligence theory. In recognition of his outstanding contributions in methods, systems, and data, the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR) awarded him the "Young Biometrics Investigator Award 2019" (awarded every two years, one scholar under 40 years old is selected globally each time). He has received the second prize of "2019 National Science and Technology Progress Award", the first prize of "2021 China Institute of Electronics Technical Invention Award", and the second prize of "2022 Chinese Society of Image and Graphics Natural Science Award". He has published over 200 papers in top journals and conferences in this field, such as IEEE Trans (TPAMI, TIP, TIFS, TNNLS), CVPR, ICCV, AAAI, IJCAI, with over 28,000 citations on Google Scholar, H-index: 80. He has also won over ten best (student) paper awards at international academic conferences or first place in international conference competitions. He has been granted over 30 invention patents, published 2 national standards, and 7 National public safety industry standards.
