Research Interests: Surgical robotics, Product Industrialization. 

 

Xilong Hou is currently a senior engineer in the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR), Hong Kong Institute of Science & Innovation, Chinese Academy of Science. He received the B.E. and M.E. degrees in mechanical engineering from Northeastern university, Shenyang, China and Harbin Institute of technology (Shenzhen), Shenzhen, China in 2012 and 2015, respectively. From 2015 to 2022, He successively worked as an engineer and project manager in ROBO Medical Ltd. (2015.04-2019.04), Peng Cheng National Laboratory (PCNL) (2019.04-2021.05) and Shenzhen Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics for Society (AIRS) (2021.05-2022.02). 

Xilong Hou has been the PI of various surgical robot programs, including sinus endoscopic robot, remotely controlled ultrasound robot, single port surgical robot, ESD surgical robot and lung cancer diagnose robot, etc. In particular, the remotely controlled ultrasound surgical designed in ROBO Medical Ltd. has got National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) certification and has already been in clinical use by BGI Group. The ESD surgical robot platform developed is now applying for NMPA certification too. He has participated in two National Program and one Provincial Project. He has applied more than 90 patents, most of which have been granted or licensed to surgical robotics company. In terms of research, he has over ten journal publications or conference papers in surgical robotics.
